LANDSCAPES, MEMORIES AND ABSTRACTIONS: MELO MINNELLA' S SICILY
On Saturday 7 October, the Museo Civico Castelbuono will present Paesaggi, memorie e astrazioni: La Sicilia di Melo Minnella (Landscapes, Memories and Abstractions: Melo Minnella’s Sicily), curated by Valentina Bruschi: a winning project of Strategia Fotografia 2022, promoted by the Ministry of Culture’s Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, through which the museum has acquired an important corpus of 30 photographs by the great Sicilian photographer Melo Minnella. The exhibition opens at 12 noon on the 7th of October, the 19th Giornata del Contemporaneo (Contemporary Art Day), declared by the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums (AMACI). Continuing until 7 April 2024, it presents thirty black and white photographs that pay homage to a photographer critically acclaimed as one of the most important of his generation. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by Palermo Publishing which includes essays by Laura Barreca, Valentina Bruschi, Maria Chiara Di Trapani, Mariaenza Puccia, Giuliano Sergio, Maria Rosa Sossai and Midge Wattles.
